An evening with Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Junot Díaz, hosted by Marius Chivu. The conversation will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation available. Junot Díaz was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New Jersey. He is author of the critically acclaimed Drown; The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, which won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award; and This is How You Lose Her, a New York Times bestseller and National Book Award finalist. He is the recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, PEN/Malamud Award, Dayton Literary Peace Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship, and PEN/O. Henry Award. A graduate of Rutgers College, Diaz is currently the fiction editor at Boston Review, and the Rudge and Nancy Allen Professor of Writing at MIT. The event is presented by Cătălin Sava.

Michel Bussi is one of France’s most widely read contemporary authors, known for his intricate thrillers and psychological novels. His works, including After the Crash, Black Water Lilies, and Time Is a Killer, have been translated into dozens of languages and adapted for film and television. Tracy Chevalier is a British-American novelist celebrated for her historical fiction exploring art, identity, and women’s lives. She gained international acclaim with Girl with a Pearl Earring, later adapted into an Oscar-nominated film, and is also the author of Remarkable Creatures and A Single Thread. The final evening features the Romanian Cultural Institute Award for the Best Translation from Romanian (2024) and the High-School Students Award for the Most Beloved Book of 2024, followed by a conversation with filmmaker Cristian Mungiu, hosted by Cătălin Striblea. Cristian Mungiu is an award-winning Romanian filmmaker and screenwriter, recognized for his realist storytelling and social insight. His film 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2007, followed by acclaimed works such as Beyond the Hills and Graduation. The event is presented by Cătălin Sava.
