În România comunistă, cenzura a interzis peste 8.000 de titluri care nu se aliniau ideologiei de partid sau care făceau referire la valori occidentale. Acestea erau păstrate în biblioteci în „Fondul Secret” sau „Fondul S” (Special), accesibile doar cu aprobare specială. Iată câteva titluri:
